The Mathematics Achievement section is the fourth and last scored portion of the ISEE. Students are presented with 47 questions and given 40 minutes to complete them or about 51 seconds per question.
Much of this section is composed of word problems similar to the Quantitative Reasoning Test. However, these word problems tend to be a little more straight forward. But in exchange for their simpler presentation, they may require students to do mathematical computations.
Additionally, a handful of questions will be simple computations in which questions are presented with standard math notation accompanied by little to no wording.
Like the quantitative reasoning section, tested math concepts on the Middle Level include algebra and basic geometry, which most 6th graders should have seen by the end of their first semester.
Each question is followed by four suggested answers. Read each question and then decide which one of the four suggested answers is best.
